  • The anxiolytic effect of cannabidiol on chronically stressed mice depends on hippocampal neurogenesis: involvement of the endocannabinoid system ()

Cannabidiol (CBD), the main non-psychotomimetic component of the Cannabis sativa plant, exerts therapeutically promising effects on human mental health. The objective of this study was to investigate the possible involvement of hippocampal neurogenesis in the anxiolytic effect of (CBD) in mice subjected to 14 days of chronic unpredictable stress (CUS).The findings support that the anxiolytic effect of chronic administration of (CBD) in stressed mice depends on its proneurogenic action in the adult hippocampus by facilitating endocannabinoid-mediated signaling. • Therapeutical use of the cannabinoids in psychiatry ()

The results found in this study show that cannabidiol has therapeutic potential with antipsychotic, anxiolytic and antidepressant properties, as well as being effective under other conditions. Cannabinoids may be of great therapeutic interest for psychiatry. View study
