Canadian cannabis giants have taken a beating. An article considers whether we should expect Multi State Operators (MSOs) in the United States to suffer a similar fate.

Chuck Schumer’s Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA) finally hit the Senate floor. It would decriminalize cannabis and allow the states to choose to legalize, expunging the records of cannabis offenders and building a fund to go after the illicit market. The bill would also add a federal tax of up to 25% in addition to existing state taxes. Regardless of its potential, the bill will not muster the votes needed to avoid a filibuster. More likely to pass before the midterm elections is a banking bill, but even that is uncertain.
