Hi,
A recent UCLA study found that unlike tobacco, cannabis use doesn't hike up the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The government's been attempting to establish this link for a while now, without much luck. ;)
A bipartisan bill currently in Congress could simplify cannabis and psychedelic research, but major legalization groups are opposing it. The bill's move to place fentanyl in the Schedule 1 category harkens back to the flawed drug war, concerninging some that it will have unintended consequences.
Minnesota’s governor announced his intention to sign the legalization bill, with Congress hashing out the particulars. Although I'd hold off on any celebrations until it's official, the current plan is for home growth to start in August, with dispensaries projected to begin sales by January 2025. A modest 10% excise tax is in place, with 20% of that allocated to local governments, and some limits are left to city and county discretion. Past low-level offenses will be expunged and individuals most impacted by the drug war are expected to receive preference for licenses. Here's to progress in Minnesota! :)
