A while back, we reported on an investigative journalist traveling to China to expose a major fentanyl player now wanted in the US. Responding to US pressure, China banned fentanyl, but fentanyl analogues and other synthetic drugs are still hitting the market. Benzo dope, gaining popularity in Canada, combines benzodiazepine tranquilizers and either heroin or fentanyl to make an addictive (and deadly) cocktail. We included a hard-hitting Vice documentary on the subject in our Cool Finds section.

Chuck Schumer finally presented his cannabis decriminalization bill to the US Senate. It would create a comprehensive legal framework, expunge the records of cannabis related criminals, and create a hefty federal tax. The prospects are grim that it will pass as at least 10 republicans need to support it to avoid a filibuster.

In positive news, Joe Biden said that he is working on a crime bill and insinuated it would free cannabis prisoners. I'm eager to see what they come up with. :)
