The FDA is pushing the Justice Department to classify 7-OH as a Schedule I substance alongside heroin and marijuana - the compound is found naturally in small amounts in kratom but sold in concentrated synthetic forms at gas stations. Meanwhile, Senator Rand Paul successfully blocked Mitch McConnell's attempt to ban hemp products containing any detectable THC from a federal spending bill, saving the hemp industry, at least for now, from what could've been a 95% wipeout. Texas lawmakers are pushing ahead with another THC ban despite polling showing nearly 4 in 5 voters back legal hemp products, with strong Republican opposition to an outright prohibition.
